SVKM’s Dr Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy (BNCP), permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai is consistently recognised as one of Maharashtra’s foremost institutes providing high-quality education, a vibrant cocurricular and extracurricular environment; making it a sought-after institute for students and faculty. The institute is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1st Cycle with A++ Grade (3.64 CGPA on a 4 Point Scale) and B. Pharm Program Re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 6 years (till AY 2029). It is ranked # 39 in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 Pharmacy College rankings. It is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. 

It was awarded the “Overall Championship” and “Overall Runner Championship” at the 14th and 15th AVISHKAR Research Convention 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively by the University of Mumbai. The College Won the Runner-Up Trophy for the Year 2021-22. It was awarded the “Best College” trophy for the 12th time at Rx 2024, organised by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association-Maharashtra State Branch-Student Forum (IPA-MSB-SF). 

The vision of the institute is, “To be recognised as a top institute of pharmaceutical sciences in the country which develops professionally competent and socially sensitive individuals who cater to the needs of higher pharmacy education, research and industry”. The entire educational programme is designed in line with its vision and provides an inclusive educational experience via state-of-the-art infrastructure and extracurricular and co-curricular student engagement leading to the holistic development of students. It offers BPharm programme, MPharm programme with specialisation in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, Quality Assurance, Pharmacology and PhD programme in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacology. The infrastructure and highly qualified competent faculty provide a sound ecosystem for research and innovation to the students. The institute has received government-funded research grants from state and central agencies like Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Department of Science and Technology -- funds for Infrastructure Science and Technology, Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Atomic Energy -- Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Biotechnology, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine- Ministry of AYUSH and University of Mumbai along with a strong industry consultancy with national and international pharmaceutical industries.  

A collaborative network with reputed universities such as Laurentian University, Canada; University of Houston, USA; Ajman University, UAE; Dubai Pharmacy College, UAE nurtures research, faculty exchange and student engagement in collaborative ventures like projects, publications, seminars, conferences and workshops making our students global citizens. This is represented by the institute’s alumni presence in reputed universities and successful placement of our students in pharma and allied healthcare industries. 

The institute’s innovative SCINTELLECT platform provides all students, from their first year itself, an opportunity to participate in research and mentored projects translating to publications and conference presentations.

Their bouquet of short-term certificate courses -- Drug Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Bioinformatics, Computer-assisted Drug Development, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Life Science Students, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Clinical Research, Cosmetics and Perfumery, Patent Laws for Pharma Sector (IPR) and Pharmacoeconomics and Marketing Strategies enable students to acquire beyond-syllabus interactive learning with industry professionals. 

The BNCP team under the able leadership of Principal, Dr Munira Momin, and proactive support of SVKM Management strives continuously to impart the latest knowledge with advanced pedagogy and ICT-based learning to the students.   • To imbibe in graduates attributes of inquisitiveness, leadership, sensitivity and responsiveness towards the societal healthcare needs.

The institute has adopted eleven Program Outcomes (POs) defined for the B. Pharm Programme. At successfully completing the B. Pharm program, student should have achieved the eleven program outcomes mentioned below.

PO1

Pharmacy Knowledge

Possess knowledge and comprehension of the core and basic knowledge associated with the profession of pharmacy, including biomedical sciences; pharmaceutical sciences; behavioural, social, and administrative pharmacy sciences; and manufacturing practices.

PO2

Planning Abilities

Demonstrate effective planning abilities including time management, resource management, delegation skills and organizational skills. Develop and implement plans and organize work to meet deadlines.

PO3

Problem analysis

Utilize the principles of scientific enquiry, thinking analytically, clearly and critically, while solving problems and making decisions during daily practice. Find, analyze, evaluate and apply information systematically and shall make defensible decisions.

PO4

Modern tool usage

Learn, select, and apply appropriate methods and procedures, resources, and modern pharmacy-related computing tools with an understanding of the limitations.

PO5

Leadership skills

Understand and consider the human reaction to change, motivation issues, leadership and team-building when planning changes required for fulfilment of practice, professional and societal responsibilities. Assume participatory roles as responsible citizens or leadership roles when appropriate to facilitate improvement in health and well-being.

PO6

Professional Identity

Understand, analyze and communicate the value of their professional roles in society (e.g. health care professionals, promoters of health, educators, managers, employers, employees).

PO7

Pharmaceutical Ethics

Honour personal values and apply ethical principles in professional and social contexts. Demonstrate behaviour that recognizes cultural and personal variability in values, communication and lifestyles. Use ethical frameworks; apply ethical principles while making decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes associated with the decisions.

Communication

Communicate effectively with the pharmacy community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports, make effective presentations and documentation, and give and receive clear instructions

The Pharmacist and society

Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety and legal issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional pharmacy practice.

Environment and sustainability

Understand the impact of the professional pharmacy solutions in societal

and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change. Self-assess and use feedback effectively from others to identify learning needs and to satisfy these needs on an ongoing basis.
