The sophisticated cell culture laboratory facility established at SVKM’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy has capacity for routine cell culture (feeding and sub culturing) and maintenance (cryo preservation of cell cultures). The facility is successfully utilized by the faculty members and research students (P.G. and Ph.D) for carrying out cell culture based studies on variety of cells like: Glioblastoma cells – (C6), Cervical Cancer cells- (HeLa), Murine macrophages- (RAW 264.7), Mouse fibroblast- (L929), Human Pancreatic Cancerous cell lines- (MiaPaCa), Lung Cancer- (A549), Breast cancer- (MCF- 7), Colon Cancer- (HT29), Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma- (AW8507). Cell storage facilities like -20°C Freezer & Liquid Nitrogen (-140°C) are also available.
Continuous cell lines are maintained for in vitro screening of both natural and synthetic compounds for various pharmacological activities:
-
Cytotoxicity
-
Cytocompatibility Studies
-
Screening for anticancer activities
